Biography
Richard ‘Doc Spoons’ Spooner first picked up a pair of sticks at 14 and has yet to put them down. Spoons, as he is generally known, has a deep and basic love for all things drums.
A seasoned session player, Spoons has worked for a raft of artists and organisations. A truly versatile player, he is as at home pounding out straight rock rhythms as he is riding laid–back hip-hop boom-bap or shufflin’ blues grooves. In recent times Spoons has enjoyed working with English Blues Prodigy Oli Brown, Swiss bands Motion & Austin, BBC Radio & Television and with The Aynsley Lister Band, touring internationally in support of his numerous releases, headlining many major European festivals and has been recording on various projects with producers Ian Curnow & Phil Harding (SAW/Westlife/Clash/Killing Joke)
In addition to his impressive CV of live and recorded work, Spoons is also the in-house drummer/percussionist for The Groove Criminal production team, a project, which has seen his chops, featured on several commercial sample CDs and the cover CDs/DVDs of both Future Music and Computer Music magazines.

Mit 14 Jahren nahm Richard ‘Doc Spoons’ Spooner zum ersten Mal Schlagzeugschläger in die Finger und hat sie seither nicht mehr abgelegt. Doc Spoons, so allgemein bekannt, hat eine grosse Leidenschaft für Schlagzeuge.
Als Sessionmusiker hat Richard für eine ganze Menge von Künstlern und Organisationen gearbeitet. Ein echt vielseitiger Spieler. Er fühlt sich wohl, was immer die Stilrichtung sei klassischer Rock, Hip-Hop, Blues grooves etc. In letzter Zeit arbeitete er für Oli Brown, Schweizer bands Austin und Motion,BBC Radio & Television und tourte international mit Aynsley Lister Band zur Unterstützung dessen Alben. Richard hat Aufnahmen für verschiedene Projekte gemacht mit Produzenten Ian Curnow and Phil Harding (Kylie/Pet Shop Boys/Westlife/The Clash/KillingJoke/E17).
Spoons ist ausserdem der hauseigene Schlagzeuger des Groove Criminal Production Teams. Ein Projekt, womit er verschiedene kommerzielle Sample CD’s und Cover CD/DVD’s für ‘Future Music’ und ‘Computer Music’ Magazin herausbrach.
